Name: Russell Clemens
When you began working at Blessings: July 2022
Role: IT Associate
If you had to compare yourself to a book/movie/TV character, who would you be, and why?
Moss from the IT Crowd. He’s a capable IT guy who makes hilarious social blunders because he can be awkward at times.
In your own words, describe what you do and the part you play at Blessings:
My role at Blessings is to ensure that all IT equipment and software is functioning properly and that our environment is secure. I help with process and system improvements, and I also enjoy learning other jobs and responsibilities in the organization so that I can assist in multiple departments.
What’s something about you that would surprise us?
I worked as a ranch hand for several years and my job duties included: mucking horse stalls, mending and building fences, washing and grooming horses, herding and feeding cattle, putting cattle in a chute for immunizations and examinations, barn building, trailering horses for shows, field and lawn maintenance, hauling hay and feed, maintaining the ranch vehicles, and training youth in summer horse riding camps. I also owned my own AQHA registered Palomino quarter horse named Golden Sunset.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
The people I work with are all committed to the mission of Blessings, and being able to share that mission is a great feeling. They’re also amazing people with great personal stories and journeys to share.
Where have you served in a missional capacity?
I have served at a soup kitchen in the Dallas Texas area and have organized and run charity fundraising events for food banks, charities, ministries, national and community organizations.
Where/How would you like to serve in the future?
The goal would be to serve as board member of a charitable organization and then see where God takes me from there.
What was your last staff devotional about?
It was about prayer and how it isn’t about asking God to focus on something, rather He already knows what we need, and we are praying to get our heart right with Him so that He can bless us.
What is your best memory here at Blessings?
Our employee appreciation lunch – getting to toss the football with my coworkers and enjoy time outdoors telling stories.
